In February of 2023 Virginia Senate Democrats passed the ‘Reproductive Freedom Amendment’ by a vote of 21-18. The amendment would enshrine abortion – and many other immoralities – in the Virginia State Constitution. In order to be added to the state constitution, both the Virginia State House of Delegates as well as the State Senate must pass the amendment. It would again have to be passed by both houses after an interim election.
What is the make-up of the state legislature? After the last election, Senate: 21 Democrats and 19 Republicans. House of Delegates: 51 Democrats and 49 Republicans. So, if all the Democrats vote according to their party platform – abortion is a right for all nine months, the amendment will pass this year. After an interim election, it will again have to be passed to become part of the state constitution. Mind you, an amendment can be added to the state constitution without the governor’s signature.
What else would have legal rights if this amendment is passed? How rabidly anti-life is it?
- Abortion for all nine months of pregnancy will be enshrined as a right in the state of Virginia.
- Gene editing of babies for intelligent or physical abilities. (Didn’t someone named Hitler talk about a ‘Master Race’?)
- Cloning. (Is the clone free or owned by the master who donated the cells?)
- The state could compel sterilizations as it did from 1924 to 1974. (Isn’t ‘Reproductive Freedom’ the ability to choose to reproduce?)
The writers and signers of this amendment have shown their true colors. Is this about freedom? Far from it. It is about control. This amendment allows the state to dictate to the populace. Who would be dictating? Those who sign and vote for this amendment.
There is more to the amendment. Perhaps, all of us would do well to take a close look at it. Perhaps, all of us can make a lot of phone calls and send a lot of emails to our state senators and delegates.

En febrero del 2023 el Senado Demócrata de Virginia paso la ‘Enmienda de Libertad Reproductiva’ con un voto de 21-18. Esta enmienda consagra el aborto – y muchas otras inmoralidades – en la Constitución del Estado de Virginia. Para poder agregarlo a la constitución estatal, tanto la Cámara de Delegados del Estado de Virginia como el Senado Estatal deben aprobar la enmienda. Nuevamente tendría que ser aprobada por ambas cámaras después de una elección provisional.
¿Cuál es la composición de la legislatura estatal? Después de la últimas elecciones: Senado: 21 Demócratas y 19 Republicanos. Cámara de Delegados: 51 Demócratas y 49 Republicanos. Los autores y firmantes de esta enmienda han mostrados sus verdaderos colores. ¿Se trata de libertad? Muy lejos de eso. Se trata de control. Esta enmienda le permite al estado dictar a sus habitantes. ¿Quién estará dictando? Los que firmaron y votaron por esta enmienda.
