Perhaps, you may have heard of recent priest changes in our diocese that will take effect on October 19th. Our bishop has assigned our Fr. Carr to St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Colonial Beach and St. Anthony’s Mission in King George. Fr. Carr was assigned to Holy Trinity in June of 2018. I have enjoyed working with him at the parish. He has been a help with his advice and encouragement. He has been dedicated to the sick in weekly visits. He has been dedicated to our youth in teaching classes, especially on classic movies. He has been dedicated to offering the sacraments – whether on Good Friday hearing confessions outside in 30 degree weather (and getting Covid as a result) or making the trek over to Nokesville for our Traditional Latin Mass. Thank you Fr. Carr!
Fr. Stefan Starzynski will be our new parochial vicar. Fr. Stefan was ordained on May 18, 1996 – the class of 13! He has had a number of assignments in the diocese. The one that stands out is his previous assignment: Chaplain at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Perhaps, many of you have already met Fr. Stefan during a stay at the hospital. The last eight years his parish was the hospital. How many people he baptized, confirmed, anointed and administered Holy Communion?! He was at the bedside of a dying person every day he was there! During Covid he was faithfully at the hospital. He basically lived quarantined for a time so that people could receive the sacraments. We welcome Fr. Stefan!
I was reminded that this year is the 150th anniversary of the birth of St. Therese of Lisieux, The Little Flower (1873-1897). This year is also the 100th anniversary of her Beatification by Pope Pius XI. St. Therese’s feast day is October 1st. May we ask St. Therese for her intercession for Fr. Carr and Fr. Stefan as they begin their new assignments. May we also ask her prayers for our families, our parish, our nation and our world!

A lo mejor ya escucharon acerca de los recientes cambios de sacerdotes en nuestra diócesis que serán efectivos el 19 de octubre. Nuestro Obispo ha asignado a nuestro Padre Carr a la parroquia St. Elizabeth en Colonial Beach y a la Misión St. Anthony en King George. Padre Carr fue asignado a Holy Trinity en junio del 2018. Yo he disfrutado trabajar con él en la parroquia. Él ha sido de ayuda con sus consejos y apoyo. Él se ha dedicado a los enfermos con visitas semanales. Se ha dedicado a los jóvenes dándoles clases, especialmente acerca de películas clásicas. Ha sido dedicado en ofrecer los sacramentos – así haya sido escuchando Confesiones al aire libre un Viernes Santo con temperaturas de 30 grados (y contagiarse de Covid como resultado). O hacer la travesía hasta Nokesville para nuestra Misa Tradicional en Latín. ¡Gracias Padre Carr!
El Padre Stefan Starzynski es nuestro nuevo vicario. El Padre Stefan fue ordenado el 18 de mayo de 1996 – ¡la clase de 13! Él ha tenido algunas asignaciones en la diócesis. La que sobresale es su asignación previa: Capellán en el Hospital INOVA Fairfax. Talvez algunos de ustedes ya han conocido al Padre Stefan durante alguna hospitalización. ¡¿A cuántas personas él ha bautizado, confirmado, ungido y dado la Sagrada Comunión?! ¡Él estuvo al lado de la cama de un moribundo cada día que estuvo allí! Durante Covid, él estuvo fielmente en el hospital. Básicamente vivió en cuarentena por un tiempo para que las personas pudieran recibir los sacramentos. ¡Bienvenido Padre Stefan!
Me han recordado que este año es el 150º aniversario del nacimiento de Santa Teresa de Lisieux, la Florecita (1873-1897). Este año también es el 100 aniversario de la beatificación del Papa Pio XI. La fiesta de Santa Teresita es el 1 de octubre.
Le podríamos pedir a Santa Teresita por su intercesión por los Padres Carr y Stefan ahora que comienzan sus nuevas asignaciones. ¡También pidamos sus oraciones por nuestras familias, nuestra parroquia, nuestra nación y nuestro mundo!
