Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!’ And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all therein, saying, ’To him who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might for ever and ever!’ And the four living creatures said, ‘Amen’ and the elders fell down and worshiped. (Rev. 5: 11-14)
At every Mass we worship Almighty, God, the Trinity. We participate with the angels and saints in worshiping the Lamb, Jesus Christ. It is through Him (Jesus) and with Him and in Him, in the power of God, the Holy Spirit, that we worship God, the Father at every Mass. If you notice, the previous sentence is, literally, a high point of the Mass in concluding the Eucharistic Prayer. It is when our attention is drawn, visibly, to the fact of Jesus’ Sacrifice, Total Self-Gift to the Father!
Again, what is the Mass? It is the re-presentation of the Sacrifice of Jesus, the God-man, to God the Father. It is The Perfect Sacrifice offered to the Father for our Redemption. Since Jesus is God (and man), His Sacrifice is eternal. We have seen in the Book of Revelation that this Perfect Prayer of Jesus Christ to the Father continues in heaven. Through the power of God, the Holy Spirit working through ordained priests, we are able to be present at Jesus’ Sacrifice, the heavenly wedding banquet.
How can anyone be bored at Mass if he/she understands the Mass?! The key: one cannot love what one does not know/understand. How vital is study and understanding to our participation in the Greatest Act of history! There are many options as Catholics have written about the Mass for centuries. Recently, Cardinal Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI, has written a good bit about the Mass in his books, Feast of Faith and The Spirit of the Liturgy. A book that anyone can pick up is by Dr. Scott Hahn, The Lamb’s Supper. Bishop Sheen wrote a tremendous book on the Mass entitled, Understanding the Mass

En cada Misa adoramos a Dios Todopoderoso, la Trinidad. Participamos con los ángeles, los santos adorando al Cordero, Jesucristo. Es a través de Él (Jesús) y con Él y en Él, en el poder de Dios, el Espíritu Santo es que adoramos a Dios Padre en cada Misa. Si se dan cuenta, la oración anterior es literalmente, un punto alto de la Misa al concluir la Plegaria Eucarística. Es cuando nos llama la atención, visiblemente, el hecho del Sacrificio de Jesús, ¡una Entrega Total al Padre!
¿Una vez más, que es la Misa? Es la re-presentación del Sacrificio de Jesús, el Dios-hombre a Dios Padre. Es el Sacrificio Perfecto al Padre por nuestra Redención. Ya que Jesús es Dios (y hombre), Su Sacrificio es eterno. Hemos visto en Libro del Apocalipsis que esta Oración Perfecta de Jesucristo al Padre continua en el cielo. Por del poder de Dios, el Espíritu Santo, trabajando a través de sacerdotes ordenados, podemos estar presentes en el Sacrificio de Jesús, el banquete de bodas celestial.
¡¿Cómo puede alguien aburrirse en Misa si él/ella entiende la Misa?! La clave: uno no puede amar lo que uno no conoce/entiende. ¡Qué vital es estudiar y entender nuestra participación en el Más Grande Acto en la historia! Hay muchas opciones, ya que durante siglos, muchos católicos han escrito acerca de la Misa. Recientemente, el Cardenal Ratzinger, después Papa Benedicto XVI, ha escrito bastante acerca de la Misa en sus libros, Feast of Faith y The Spirit of the Liturgy (Fiesta de Fe y El Espíritu de la Liturgia). Un libro que cualquiera puede coger es del Dr. Scott Hahn, The Lamb’s Supper (Disponible en español, La Cena del Cordero). El Obispo Sheen escribió un tremendo libro acerca de la Misa titulado, Entendiendo la Misa.
