The Immaculata
A Reading from the Writings of St. Maximilian Kolbe
“Human words cannot describe who the one is, who became the true Mother of God. Of course taken by herself, she is merely a creature. Yet, she was raised up so high by God that one would need to understand who God is to comprehend who the Mother of God is.
Also, she is the true Mother of God. It is a dogma of faith. Although the dignity of divine motherhood accounts for most of her privileges, the first grace she received from God was her Immaculate Conception, her exemption from any blemish, even from original sin, since the first moment of her existence. Such privilege, moreover, must be very dear to her, for in Lourdes she named herself: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” On that occasion, she did not say, “I was conceived without sin,” but “I am the Immaculate Conception;” it follows of necessity that she is immaculateness itself. In fact, she is a conception, since she came into existence in time. However, she is the Immaculate Conception.
God said to Moses: “I am Who I am” [Ex 3:14]: I am existence itself, so I am without beginning. Instead, the Immaculata says of herself, “I am Conception,” but, unlike all other human beings, the “Immaculate Conception” (KW 1292).”
You are all beautiful, Mary,
and the original stain is not in you.
You are the glory of Jerusalem,
You are the joy of Israel,
You give honor to our people.
You are the advocate of sinners.
O Mary,
Virgin most prudent,
Mother most merciful,
pray for us, intercede for us,
with the Lord Jesus Christ.
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son, grant, we pray, that, as you preserved her from every stain by virtue of the death of your Son, which you foresaw, so, through her intercession, we, too, may be cleansed and admitted to your presence. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

“No hay palabras humanas que puedan describir quién es la que se convirtió en la verdadera Madre de Dios. Naturalmente, considerada en sí misma, no es más que una criatura. Sin embargo, fue elevada por Dios a tal altura que sería necesario entender quién es Dios para comprender quién es la Madre de Dios.
Además, ella es la verdadera Madre de Dios. Es un dogma de fe. Aunque la dignidad de la maternidad divina explica la mayor parte de sus privilegios, la primera gracia que recibió de Dios fue su Inmaculada Concepción, su exención de toda mancha, incluso del pecado original, desde el primer momento de su existencia. Este privilegio, además, debe ser muy querido para ella, pues en Lourdes se nombró a sí misma: “Yo soy la Inmaculada Concepción”. En esa ocasión, no dijo: “Fui concebida sin pecado”, sino: “Yo soy la Inmaculada Concepción”; de ahí se sigue necesariamente que ella es la inmaculada misma. En realidad, ella es una concepción, ya que vino a la existencia en el tiempo. Sin embargo, ella es la Inmaculada Concepción.
Dios dijo a Moisés: “Yo soy el que soy” [Ex 3,14]: soy la existencia misma, por lo tanto no tengo principio. En cambio, la Inmaculada dice de sí misma: “Yo soy la Concepción”, pero, a diferencia de todos los demás seres humanos, la “Inmaculada Concepción” (KW 1292).”
Eres toda bella, María,
y la mancha original no está en ti.
Eres la gloria de Jerusalén,
eres la alegría de Israel,
damos honor a nuestro pueblo.
Eres la abogada de los pecadores.
Oh María,
Virgen prudentísima,
Madre misericordiosa,
ruega por nosotros, intercede por nosotros,
ante el Señor Jesucristo.
Oh Dios, que por la Inmaculada Concepción de la Santísima Virgen preparaste una morada digna para tu Hijo, te rogamos que, así como la preservaste de toda mancha en virtud de la muerte de tu Hijo, que previste, así también nosotros, por su intercesión, seamos purificados y admitidos a tu presencia. Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo, que contigo vive y reina en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, y es Dios, por los siglo. Amen.
