homeschool Mass last Friday!
Thank you as well to all who helped with Confirmations this Saturday, May 20th. Thank you to our parents, catechists and Mrs. Loesel and her office for your dedication this year in preparing our confirmandi to receive God, the Holy Spirit in this unique way.
As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension this Sunday, it is good for us to consider a few aspects of Jesus’ Ascension. (Recall, Jesus ascended to heaven 40 days after Easter. We, and other dioceses, celebrate the feast on the Sunday following Ascension Thursday.)
The second Glorious Mystery of the Rosary is the Ascension. We pray for an increase in hope. Hope is a desire for heaven and trust God will help me to get there. The Ascension reminds us of our goal for existing: Heaven! We should desire to go to heaven; to be with the Holy Trinity: our Merciful Father, Loving Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Advocate, the Holy Spirit.
A secondary joy of heaven will be the presence of the angels and saints, particularly the Blessed Virgin Mary, our family members and friends.
We will also enjoy a glorified-perfect body without suffering and death. Our bodies will not be limited to time and space as we see in Jesus and the Blessed Virgin.
How often should we be ponder heaven? In a world that increasingly tries to keep our eyes turned downwards, may we daily ‘look up’ to heaven at Mass, Adoration of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and prayer!

¡Gracias a todos los que ayudaron con la Misa Anual para las Familias que educan en Casa con el Obispo Burbidge el viernes pasado!
Gracias también a todos los que ayudaron con las Confirmaciones el sábado 20 de mayo. Gracias a nuestros padres de familia, catequistas, y la Sra. Margi Loesel y a su oficina, por su dedicación para preparar a nuestros candidatos a la Confirmación para recibir a Dios, Espíritu Santo en esta forma única.
Mientras celebramos la Solemnidad de la Ascensión este domingo, es bueno que consideremos algunos aspectos de la Ascensión de Jesús. (Acuérdense que Jesús ascendió al Cielo 40 días después de la Pascua. Nosotros, y otras diócesis, celebramos la fiesta el domingo después del Jueves de la Ascensión).
El Segundo Misterio Glorioso del Rosario es la Ascensión. Nosotros rezamos por un incremento de esperanza. Esperanza es un deseo por el Cielo y confianza que Dios me va a ayudar para llegar allí. ¡La Ascensión nos recuerda nuestra meta por existir: el Cielo! Nosotros deberíamos desear ir al Cielo; para estar con la Santísima Trinidad: Nuestro Padre Misericordioso, Amoroso Salvador, Jesucristo, y nuestro Abogado, el Espíritu Santo.
Una felicidad secundaria del Cielo será la presencia de los ángeles y los santos, particularmente, la Santísima Virgen María, nuestros familiares y amigos.
También vamos a gozar de un cuerpo glorificado perfecto, sin sufrimiento ni muerte. Nuestros cuerpos no van a ser limitados por el tiempo y espacio, así como lo vemos en Jesús y la Santísima Virgen.
¿Cuán a menudo debemos reflexionar acerca del Cielo? En un mundo que constantemente trata de mantener nuestros ojos volteados hacia abajo, ¡diariamente debemos ver ‘hacia arriba’, al Cielo, durante la Misa, Adoración a Jesús en la Santísima Eucaristía y oración!
