Mortgage and VA Health Department Mandate

If you have a chance to take a look at the balance of our mortgage in the bulletin, you may notice something interesting!

Thank you to all parishioners who have helped to re-pay the money we borrowed from the diocese to build Holy Trinity! I believe it was a twelve million dollar loan! It is a testament to the generosity and faith of the people at Holy Trinity – living and deceased.

Next? Well, over the years people have mentioned often a need for an enclosed space that can be used for many different purposes. There are many conversations to be had, especially with Bishop Burbidge.

It has come to our attention that the Virginia Department of Health, State Board of Health, is considering a petition to mandate the Covid vaccine for all school employees and students in the state. Such a mandate would be directly contrary to Catholic teaching, which provides that, “…practical reason makes evident that vaccination is not, as a rule, a moral obligation and that, therefore, it must be voluntary.” (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, “Note on the morality of using some anti-Covid-19 vaccines, ” December, 21, 2020). For those whose consciences tell them they should not take the vaccine, a mandate is a clear violation of their religious liberty. Moreover, it seems to also directly impinge on the authority of parents to make medical decisions for their children. The Board is currently accepting comments on the petition, with a deadline of October 17. I strongly encourage you to visit the site below and make your objection known, especially if you are a health-care professional and know the health risks to benefits for children in receiving the ‘vax’.
