One of the most popular scenes in art is the Nativity of Jesus Christ. It is a fairly ‘simple’ event with regard to numbers: Jesus, His Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, and a few animals. One can add the shepherds and wise men.
Only the poor, the outcast and the foreigner were present at the God-man’s Birth.
Where were the wealthy, the honorable and Jews? They were making more money and spending it; being honored at banquets by other honorables – though Herod went further; and, being ‘religious’ – as some may be at Christmas. They all were distracted from finding Jesus.
What an incredible example is set by Our Lady and St. Joseph, the shepherds and Magi! They find Love Himself in a poor, defenseless Baby. They find the all-powerful, all-merciful God in a manger of a cold and filthy stable. Do we?
Do we find the same God in the poor Host in our tabernacles? Can we learn from the faith of the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph this Christmas?
Do we see Jesus in the poor who have not been loved; the cold whose hearts have been hardened by a life without God; the dirty who have sought happiness only in the world?
The Truth, Beauty and Goodness of Christmas is that the all-powerful God has become man in such a humble way. He has become like me, out of love for me. I see in the Baby Jesus, surrounded by His Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, my God Who loves me. He loves me so greatly that He will be born in a poor, cold and filthy stable in Bethlehem.
What joy must Our Lady and St. Joseph have experienced at the first Christmas! How Our Lord wants me to have the same joy!

Una de las escenas más populares en arte es la Natividad de Jesucristo. Es un evento justamente ‘simple’ en cuanto a números: Jesús, Su Santísima Madre y San José, y algunos animales. Uno puede añadir a los pastores y los reyes magos.
Solo los pobres, los marginados y los extranjeros estaban presentes en el Nacimiento del Dios-hombre.
¿En dónde estaban los ricos, los honorables y los judíos? Ellos estaban haciendo más dinero y gastándolo; siendo honrados en banquetes por otros honorables – Herodes fue más allá; siendo ‘religioso’ – como muchos estarán en Navidad. Todos ellos estaban demasiado distraídos como para encontrar a Jesús.
¡Qué increíble ejemplo fue dado por Nuestra Señora y San José, los pastores y los Reyes Magos! Ellos encuentras al Amor Mismo en un pobre e indefenso Bebé. Ellos encuentran al todopoderoso, todo misericordioso Dios en un pesebre de un frio y sucio establo. ¿Y nosotros?
¿Encontramos al mismo Dios en la pobre Hostia en nuestros Sagrarios? ¿Podemos aprender de la Fe de la Santísima Madre y San José esta Navidad?
¿Vemos a Jesús en los pobres quienes no han sido amados? ¿a los fríos a quienes sus corazones se han endurecido por una vida sin Dios? ¿a los sucios que han buscado la felicidad únicamente en el mundo?
La Verdad, Belleza y Bondad de Navidad es que el Dios todopoderoso se ha convertido en hombre, de tan humilde forma. Él se ha vuelto como yo, por amor a mí. Yo veo en el Bebé Jesús, rodeado por su Santísima Madre y San José, a mi Dios quien me ama. Él me ama tanto que va a nacer un pobre, frio y sucio establo en Belén.
¡Qué gran alegría deben haber experimentado Nuestra Señora y San José en esa primera Navidad! ¡Cuánto quiere Nuestro Señor que yo tenga esa misma alegría!
