May and the Sacraments

los-siete-sacramentos

It has been a beautiful, sacramental month of May at Holy Trinity! Congratulations to our many First Holy Communicants! May your faith and love for Jesus in the Holy Eucharist grow each day.

Congratulations to all of our confirmandi who were confirmed this past week by Archbishop Broglio of the Military Archdiocese! May your love and commitment to Christ in His Catholic Church grow daily. May you be witnesses of Christ, His Love and His Truth to our world.

We have had many beautiful weddings in this month as well

We have also had one of our own ordained a deacon in late April – Deacon David Witherow.

Add in our babies that have been baptized, the many penitents who have received Our Lord’s mercy in confession and those who have been anointed, it has been an awesome month at Holy Trinity – all the sacraments

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about the leaked Supreme Court decision that would overturn Roe v. Wade. I mentioned in that column a prominent ‘Catholic’ politician from San Francisco who proclaimed every woman should have the right to choose to terminate her pregnancy, i.e. kill an innocent human person. This politician, Nancy Pelosi, has been a major proponent to codify Roe v. Wade in the United States. She has been unwavering in her support of abortion. Enter her Archbishop who is responsible for all the souls in charge in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

After many, many attempts to persuade Congresswoman Pelosi as to the grave evil which she is perpetrating, the scandal she is giving and the danger to her soul, Archbishop Cordileone has stated she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.

The Archbishop is not only thinking about Nancy Pelosi’s soul, but also all Catholics who would be led to think you can be pro-abortion and practicing Catholic at the same time.

Can a bishop make such a judgment in his diocese? Absolutely. The Code of Canon Law is clear. Canon 915 states, “. . . others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.” This teaching is

rooted in St. Paul, “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an worthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord.” (1 Cor 11: 27)

God bless

(1 Cor 11: 27)

Dios los bendiga
