Critical Race Theory Explained…. (Part 2)

WhatIsCriticalRaceTheory

Thank you to Mrs. Loesel and all the many who helped make our Vacation Bible School engaging, educational and enjoyable!

This weekend we continue with our three-part series on Critical Race Theory as given by Deacon Gerard Anthony of St. Timothy Parish.

4. “In bourgeois society, therefore, the past dominates the present; in communist society, the present dominates the past. In bourgeois society, capital is independent and has individuality, while the living person is dependent and has no individuality.  And the abolition of this state of things is called by the bourgeois, abolition of individuality and freedom! And rightly so. The abolition of bourgeois individuality,  bourgeois independence, and bourgeois freedom is undoubtedly aimed at” (Communist Manifesto, p. 22).

a. CRT:  We must read the present meaning of racism (abolition of whiteness) into the past so people read “racism” into the past even the founding of our nation because they would resist “the abolition of whiteness”; they too want to abolish individuality and freedom to have the ability to think on one’s own.  The aim is for monolithic “Woke culture”.

b. Catholic Position:  We must read everything through truth and thus in Christ, not project the present into the past (Jn. 14:6; Heb. 13:8).

5. “Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists. On what foundation is the present family, the bourgeois family, based? On capital, on private gain. In its completely developed form this family exists only among the bourgeoisie. But this state of things finds its complement in the practical absence of the family among the proletarians, and in public prostitution. The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when its complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the vanishing of capital…But, you will say, we destroy the most hallowed of relations, when we replace home education by social.  And your education! Is not that also social, and determined by the social conditions under which you educate, by the intervention, direct or indirect, of society by means of schools? The Communists have not invented the intervention of society in education; they do but seek to alter the character of that intervention, and to rescue education from the influence of the ruling class” (Communist Manifesto, p. 24)

a. CRT: Must abolish the family by redefining what makes up family-why BLM talks about redefining the “patriarchal family” (before they took it off their website, but still promote it).   Also taking over education, training the children to see with a Marxist racial lens, reading the present definition of racism into the past so discount history, literature as unreliable.

b. Catholic Position:  The Family is based on the image of the Trinity as all fatherhood is based on God’s Fatherhood.   God created husband and wife as male and female (Gen. 1:27; Gen. 5:2; Eph. 3:14-15). Parents are the first educators of their children (CCC#2222-2229)

God Bless
