Homeschool at Holy TrinityHoly Trinity Homeschoolers (HTH) exists to support Catholic families who provide their children's primary education at home. Homeschooling is a thoroughly Catholic educational option, as noted by Pope Paul VI back in 1965! "Since parents have conferred life on their children they have a most solemn obligation to educate their offspring. Hence, parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children. Their role as educators is so decisive that scarcely anything can compensate for their failure in it." (Gravissimum Educationis #3)
For 2009-2010 HTH has over 100 families and 400+ kids of all ages. HTH is run “by parents, for kids.” HTH is a collection of families who offer their talents to each other in order to create a nurturing Catholic culture for our families and Holy Trinity Parish. We do not have any dads who are stay-at-home educators (yet), but homeschooling is truly a family effort, so dads are heavily involved and always welcome at every activity. One of the first questions we get from new parents is “what does HTH offer?” Well, what are HTH parents interested in? What do HTH kids need? Every year HTH has clubs open to HTH members that meet a variety of interests. This year we have almost a dozen clubs, and they vary according to our needs. The next club simply waits to be invented. Almost any club offered fills up quickly. HTH welcomes new members. We have Mom's Night Out/In events (monthly or so) so that moms can get together, get to know each other, and build the friendships and relationships that create the environment you want for your family. It's a nice break for mom too. HTH has as the guiding principle of all its functions and activities, fidelity to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church: particularly to the Pope, who, as successor to St. Peter, is the universal teacher in matters of faith and morals, to the diocesan bishop teaching in communion with him, as well as to our pastor. "...Religious submission of will and mind must be shown in a special way to the authentic teaching authority of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra." (Lumen Gentium #25). Please see the links to the right or contact HTH Co-Chairs Dean and Maggie Zezeus at 334-782-0905 or zeezoo8@msn.com for further information. It would be appreciated if you called on Saturdays, or weekdays between 3:00 pm. and 6:00 pm. |
