The Health/Wellness Ministry are fellow parishioners who have volunteered our health, medical and nursing knowledge and skills. Our mission is t o perpetuate the healing mission of the Church. Consistent with the Gospel and the spirit of the parish to serve out neighbor, we will promote physical, mental, social and spiritual health for all those seeking care.
Two hundred and sixty six adults/families participated (9% of the parish) in this online survey. Over half of the respondents were under age 50 and a third were between age 50 and 70. The majority were married and female, and had a bachelors degree or higher. Over half were employed full time or part time.
Participants reported good to very good health (Average 3.5 on a scale of 1 to 5). (Emotional/mental 3.7; spiritual 3.5; and physical health 3.3). Over 50% engage in 30 minutes or more of exercise 3x/week and 16% said they would participate in a weekly walking group. Eighty three percent of participants had a dental exam within the last year and 82% had an eye exam in the last two years.
The top four conditions health conditions were: weight management (selected by 50% of the survey participants), high blood pressure (44%), stress (43%), and allergies (40%). Sixty five percent of participants learn of health programs through the Holy Trinity emails. They would attend one class (43%) or half day seminar (19%). 71% read the weekly bulletin.
